The Buddy Bag Foundation was established in response to the increasing number of children entering emergency care after fleeing violent home situations. Providing a sense of safety and security during such a traumatic time is a crucial step towards recovery. By offering these children a few essential items, the foundation aims to ease their transition into emergency care.
What is the Cause?
The Buddy Bag Foundation’s mission is to provide comfort and support to children in emergency care. They have created the Buddy Bag, which includes essential items to help children feel secure when everything else has been taken away. Your handmade contributions can make a significant difference in these children’s lives.
What Do They Need?
There are many items that you can create and donate to go into the Buddy Bags, including:
- Knitted/Crocheted Bears: The foundation is always looking for cuddly teddy bears. The wonderful pdf includes several patterns in both knit and crochet, of teddys and dolls.
- Blankets: Again, the pdf includes knit and crochet blankets of various sizes, including small loveys to larger granny square blankets.
- Sewing Projects: these include toiletry bags, pencil cases, and period pouches.
When Do They Need It?
The Buddy Bag Foundation accepts donations year-round. Whenever you have completed your creations, you can send them to the address provided.
